Guitarist and singer Noel Gallagher has announced the name and release date of his debut solo album since his departure from Britpop band Oasis album at a press conference today in Notting Hill's Electric Cinema.
The new album, High Flying Birds – which is also the name of Gallagher's backing band - will be hitting the shelves on 17 October, with a follow up to be released in 2012 with duo Amorphous Androgynous.
Gallagher famously quit Oasis in 2009 after a fight broke out between his younger brother Liam minutes before they were to perform at French music festival Rock en Seine.
Speaking to the press, Noel Gallagher said: “I regret it really, because there was only two gigs left.”
Liam Gallagher then went on to form Beady Eye along the remaining members of Oasis.
